Sunday 1st August, 2010

Chapelezau’ll love this place!

This Sunday was an extra special one at QUEST! We had over 800 children come and hear about the greatest love that anyone could ever know, the love of Christ! Many children gave their lives to the Lord for the first time and learned how they can continue to live for Christ and share their faith. We also had an exciting time of worship, fun and games! There were bouncing castles, camel and horse rides, face painting, and we ate the yummiest, biggest cake ever!

Itibari (2yrs) & Neema (3yrs) Classes

This Sunday, the 2-3 years old’s learned about the greatest gift ever! They shared about the best gifts they’ve ever received (bicycles, toy cars, stuffed animals, etc.), and then heard about the gift of eternal life offered to them by their friend Jesus who is in heaven. The children learned from (John 3:16) that God loves us soooo much that he sent His only son, Jesus to die on a cross so that we could have the greatest gift ever; eternal life.

Aim:

That the children will:

• Recognize that God loves them;

• Begin to understand the concept of salvation.

Craft:

To complement their lesson, the children made a gift box to symbolize a gift, and each got two sweets to put in their gift boxes.

Imani (4-5yrs) Class

This Sunday, the 4 – 5 year old’s also learned about the greatest gift ever!

Verse to learn:

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Aim:

That the children will:

• Recognize that God loves them;

• Desire friendship with Jesus, and;

• Share the gospel with their friends.

Craft:

The Imani’s made a colored bracelet like the 6-11 year olds, to enable them to understand the gospel and share it with their friends.

Sifa (6-7 yrs), Shangwe (8-9 yrs) & Johari (10-11 yrs) Classes

This week, the 6 – 11 year old’s heard how God loved us so much that he sent His only son Jesus to die for us (John 3:16). Using color codes, the children learned that:

Gold/Yellow (Symbolizing heaven) – God is perfect, and He lives in heaven. Most importantly, God loves us and wants us to be with Him, but there is one thing that can never be in heaven. That is sin.

Dark (Symbolizing sin) – Sin is all the bad stuff we think, say, do or don’t do that makes God sad. Sin separates us from God but God has a wonderful plan so that we don’t have to be punished for our sins.

Red (Symbolizing Jesus’ death) – God sent His perfect son, Jesus to die on the cross for us so that we can have our sins forgiven.

Clean (Symbolizing forgiveness) – Because Jesus died in our place, we can be made clean from our sin IF we receive Jesus by: admitting we have sinned and asking for forgiveness; believing that Jesus died for us; and asking Jesus to come into our hearts.

Green (Symbolizing growth) – It is important to grow in our walk with the Lord by: reading the Bible, and praying always, obeying God’s word, going to Sunday school, and telling others about Jesus.

Verse to learn:

John 1:15 – “Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.

Aim:

That the children will:

• Recognize that God is perfect, and He loves us despite our sinful ways;

• Understand that we can have our sins forgiven because Christ died for us

• Come to receive Jesus as their Savior,

• Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior and;

• Share the gospel with their friends.

Craft:

The 6-11 year olds made a colored bead bracelet based on the color-coded gospel message they heard, to enable them to understand the gospel and share it with their friends.
