Sunday 25th September 2011

Sunday 25th September, 2011

Itibari (2yrs) & Neema (3yrs) Classes

This Sunday the 2-3 year olds learnt how they are thankful that they can talk to God. Hannah was a woman whose prayers to God reflected her strong faith. Hannah prayed to God with silent lips and an earnest heart. With somber words, Hannah told God her deep sorrow at being childless. And with joyous words, Hannah praised and thanked God for his unending love. The story of Hannah is a wonderful illustration of the hope we have when we speak to God.  (1 Samuel 3:1-19).

Aim:

  • Children to discover that they can talk to God any time.
  • Children will learn that God hears them when they talk to him and thank God for answering their prayers.

Imani (4-5 yrs) Class

This Sunday the 4-5 year olds learnt about a miraculous catch of fish. After Jesus’ death and resurrection, his followers returned to their fishing boats. When Peter declared, “I’m going out to fish,” six other followers joined him. These experienced fishermen fished all night but caught nothing. They must have laughed when a man, who first appeared to be a stranger, suggested they try casting their nets on the other side of the boat. But when the nests quickly filled with fish, one disciple recognized the risen Lord. (John 21:1-13).

Aim:

That the children will:

  • Pretend to go fishing with the disciples and fill a net with “fish” prayers as they name things they’re thankful for.

Verse to learn:

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength”

Sifa (6-7yrs), Shangwe (8-9yrs) & Johari (10-11yrs) Classes

This Sunday, the 6-11 year olds’ learnt what if they don’t feel like praying all they do is they need to check their lives and confess their sin to God. (Matthew 4:18-20)

Aim:

That the children and pre-teens will:

  • Know that if they can confess any sin in their life and regain the joy of their friendship with God.

Verse to learn:

1 John 1:9- “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us….”
