Itibari (2yrs) & Neema (3yrs) Classes

This Sunday the 2-3 year olds learnt how they are thankful that they can talk to God. Hannah was a woman whose prayers to God reflected her strong faith. Hannah prayed to God with silent lips and an earnest heart. With somber words, Hannah told God her deep sorrow at being childless. And with joyous words, Hannah praised and thanked God for his unending love. The story of Hannah is a wonderful illustration of the hope we have when we speak to God.  (1 Samuel 3:1-19).

Aim:

  • Children to discover that they can talk to God any time.
  • Children will learn that God hears them when they talk to him and thank God for answering their prayers.

Imani (4-5 yrs) Class

This Sunday the 4-5 year olds learnt about a miraculous catch of fish. After Jesus’ death and resurrection, his followers returned to their fishing boats. When Peter declared, “I’m going out to fish,” six other followers joined him. These experienced fishermen fished all night but caught nothing. They must have laughed when a man, who first appeared to be a stranger, suggested they try casting their nets on the other side of the boat. But when the nests quickly filled with fish, one disciple recognized the risen Lord. (John 21:1-13).

Aim:

That the children will:

  • Pretend to go fishing with the disciples and fill a net with “fish” prayers as they name things they’re thankful for.

Verse to learn:

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength”

Sifa (6-7yrs), Shangwe (8-9yrs) & Johari (10-11yrs) Classes

This Sunday, the 6-11 year olds’ learnt what if they don’t feel like praying all they do is they need to check their lives and confess their sin to God. (Matthew 4:18-20)

Aim:

That the children and pre-teens will:

  • Know that if they can confess any sin in their life and regain the joy of their friendship with God.

Verse to learn:

1 John 1:9- “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us….”

Itibari (2yrs) & Neema (3yrs) Classes

This Sunday the 2-3 year olds learnt how we can talk to God, and he hears us. For years, Hannah had wanted a baby to love, yet she remained childless. Taunted and teased, Hannah silently prayed and promised that if God gave her a son, she would raise the baby as a Nazarite. God heard Hannah’s prayer and soon cradled baby Samuel in her arms. (1 Samuel 3:1-19).

Aim:

•Children to discover that they can talk to God any time.

•Children will learn that God hears them when they talk to him and thank God for answering their prayers.

Imani (4-5 yrs) Class

This Sunday the 4-5 year olds learnt how Jesus healed a blind man. When Bartimaeus heard the rumble of the approaching crowd, he listened closely to see what the commotion was about. Over the clamor of conflicting conversations, his sensitive ears heard the word “Jesus” repeated again and again. Although he couldn’t see Jesus, Bartimaeus knew Jesus must be in the crowd. Immediately, he began to shout out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” With quiet confidence, Bartimaeus presented his requests to Jesus. . (Mark 10:46-52).

Aim:

That the children will:

•Experience what it might be like to be blind and thank God for the gift of sight.

Verse to learn:

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength”

Sifa (6-7yrs), Shangwe (8-9yrs) & Johari (10-11yrs) Classes

That the children and pre-teens will:

•Know that God promises to hear and answer my prayers.

Verse to learn:

Sunday 11th September, 2011

Itibari (2yrs) & Neema (3yrs) Classes

This Sunday the 2-3 year olds learnt how we can talk to God in our prayers. As was common in polygamous house-holds, Hannah’s “rival” provoked her painfully. Penninah scornfully laughed and taunted Hannah about her barrenness. Hannah could have fought back with angry words, but she was a godly woman and turned instead to the Lord. Hannah prayed for a son, and when God honored her prayer. (1 Samuel 1:18-19).

Aim:

  • Children to discover that they can talk to God any time.
  • Children to realize that praying is a way to talk to God and express their thanks to God in a prayer.

Imani (4-5 yrs) Class

This Sunday the 4-5 year olds learnt how Jesus fed more than 5000 people. As word of Jesus’ healing miracles spread crowds of people began to follow Jesus wherever he went. Some may have been seeking healing: others simply wanted to catch a glimpse of a famous miracle worker. Looking over the hungry crowd, Jesus knew it would take a miracle to provide enough food for everyone. A boy came forward to offer his lunch-two fish and five small barley loaves. Jesus took this meager lunch, thanked God for it, and then passed pieces of the bread and fish throughout the crowd. In an astonishing display of divine power, Jesus fed over 5000 people and his disciples gathered 12 baskets of leftovers. (John 6:1-14).

Aim:

That the children will:

  • Experience sharing food with other children.

Verse to learn:

Philippians 4:13 – “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength”

Sifa (6-7yrs), Shangwe (8-9yrs) & Johari (10-11yrs) Classes

Itibari (2yrs) & Neema (3yrs) Classes

This Sunday the 2-3 year olds started a new curriculum on ‘We can talk to God’. In biblical times, women who bore many sons were held in high regard. Hannah’s sorrow at not having a child was made bitterer by the fact that her husband’s other wife, Penninah, produced offspring on a regular basis. Weeping, Hannah poured out her heart to God and promised that if God gave her a son, she would return the child to God’s service. (1 Samuel 1:1-2:11).

Aim:

  • Children to discover that they can talk to God any time.
  • Children to learn that God hears them when they talk to him and thank God for the gift of prayer.

Imani (4-5 yrs) Class

This Sunday the 4-5 year olds started a new curriculum on ‘Jesus’ miracles. They started by learning about how Jesus heals a man who has been sick for 38 years. The pool of Bethesda was a breeding ground for sickness and disease. Day after day, sick people crowded around, each hoping to be the first into the pool’s swirling, reputedly healing waters. No healthy person would want to approach this germ-infested area-but Jesus did. In the midst of those who were blind, crippled and paralyzed, Jesus noticed a man who’d spent most of his life suffering (John 5:1-9).

Aim:

That the children will:

  • Talk about what it might be like to be sick for a long time.
  • Hear how Jesus healed a man who had been sick.

Verse to learn:

Philippians 4:13 -. “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength”

Sifa (6-7yrs), Shangwe (8-9yrs) & Johari (10-11yrs) Classes

This Sunday, the 6-11 year olds’ started a new curriculum on PRAYER. They started by learning the Lord’s Prayer. (1 Samuel 16:1-13)

Aim:

Sunday 28th August, 2011

Itibari (2yrs) & Neema (3yrs) Classes

This Sunday the 2-3 year olds learnt that they are glad God watches over us. We’ve all known fear in its many forms-recurring worries in the night, fretful anxieties and heart stopping moments of fright. Tear strikes when circumstances slip out of our control and we envision outcomes that threaten our security. Psalms 121 reminds us that we can find our security in God. (Psalms121).

Aim:

  • Children to realize that their watchful God never sleeps and know that He protects them.

Imani (4-5 yrs) Class

This Sunday the 4-5 year olds learnt that Joseph shared with his brothers .Over a decade had passed since his brothers sent Joseph to Egypt as a slave. During that time, Joseph had grown up and attained a powerful position on Pharaoh’s staff. It’s no wonder his brothers didn’t recognize him when their father sent them to Egypt to buy food. After testing his brothers, Joseph could see they had changed. Even though his entire life had been altered by his brother’s jealousy and unkindness. Joseph forgave his brothers and graciously shared his grain with them. (Gen 39:2:43:34).

Aim:

That the children will:

  • Practice sharing with each other.
  • Talk about what makes sharing hard.

Verse to learn:

Ephesians 4:32a – “Be kind and loving to each other.”

Sifa (6-7yrs), Shangwe (8-9yrs) & Johari (10-11yrs) Classes

This Sunday, the 6-11 year olds’ learnt telling others about Jesus. Some men were fishermen, they didn’t jus fish for fun but as their job. One night they weren’t having much luck. All night long they sailed their boats from one side of the lake to the other trying to catch some fish. As they were cleaning their nets the next morning Jesus came to Simon Peter, who was one of the fishermen and told him to take his boat out into the lake and throw out his net again(John 21:1-13).

Aim:

That the children and pre-teens will:

  • Learn if you want to be good in fishing you must learn patience.

Verse to learn:

Matthew 4:19- “Come, follow me, Jesus said and I will make you fishers of men.”
